AIR Consulting is an actuarial firm established to deliver world-class actuarial expertise to clients in Bangladesh.
Our team of UK qualified actuaries is the largest such team operating in Bangladesh. Serving clients in Bangladesh since 2012, we have not only built unrivalled local knowledge and expertise, but a reputation for providing a professional service and for putting clients at the centre of what we do.
Testament to our dedication to the market is that AIR Consulting now serves over 30 clients in Bangladesh and we continue to retain and grow our client relationships.

Chairman and Actuary
Shajahan is a consummate and experienced professional. He is passionate about bringing the highest actuarial professional standards to Bangladesh.
Shajahan is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK), and holds an MSc in Pure Mathematics from the University of Manchester. He has over 21 years of experience in the UK and has held senior positions at the most prestigious global consulting and asset management firms (including firms such as Towers Watson, Mercer and AXA Investment Managers).
Alongside his UK experience, he has gained extensive experience over the last few years interacting with and advising pension and gratuity funds in Bangladesh.
Shajahan’s expertise covers advising institutional clients (pension funds and insurance companies) on actuarial, investment and risk-management matters. He has extensive experience in asset management, structuring derivative and multi-asset portfolios and developing business units to deliver pension and investment products to institutional clients.
Abdul is dynamic and professional. He has been instrumental in the development of AIR Consulting’s valuation software and service delivery proposition in Bangladesh. Bashir shares the team’s passion to deliver the highest level of knowledge and service to our clients.
Abdul is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) and holds a B.Sc.(Hon’s) in Mathematics & M.Sc. in Actuarial Finance from the University of Manchester and Imperial College, London respectively.
He has over 12 years of experience working with large multi-national firms including BlackRock Investment Management, Towers Watson and Accenture.
Ekhlasur Rahman has over 20 years of experience in management and as an entrepreneur. His vision is to help implement cutting edge actuarial and risk management techniques in Bangladesh.
Ekhlasur Rahman holds a Master in Commerce (MCom) in Management from the University of Dhaka. His experience in business, formerly in international trade and commerce, helped him identify good risk management as essential to business success. He also recognised actuaries as professionals that approach risk management in a quantitative and systematic way. He believes this skill set to be a valuable commodity for Bangladesh and has been instrumental in driving the growth of AIR Consulting in Bangladesh.
Mahfuz Ibn Mannan
Mahfuz has been at the forefront of the actuarial profession in Bangladesh and instrumental in the development of the actuarial profession here for 9 years. He has a deep knowledge of the actuarial needs of local clients and a passion to meet these needs in the most sustainable and impactful way. He continuously researches how actuarial concepts and tools can be developed and applied to multiple institutions in Bangladesh.
Mahfuz is a part qualified actuary of the Institute and Faculty of actuaries in the UK and has trained with the Institute of actuaries of Japan (IAJ) through ASEA. He has attended international actuarial conferences in different countries in the East and South Asia. He holds a B.Sc. (Hon’s) and M.S. in Pure Physics from the University of Dhaka.
Mahfuz has accumulated a breadth of actuarial consulting experience in Bangladesh, engaging with many of the largest gratuity and pension funds in the country. Prior to this he was instrumental in the local life insurance market, specifically in product design and valuation assignments. He is passionately focused on leveraging his knowledge and experience for the benefit of clients in Bangladesh.
